Estimate disclaimer
ProjectCostPro provides planning estimates only. Read this before relying on a number.
What our estimates are
The cost ranges shown on ProjectCostPro are planning estimates calculated from a model of typical scope, materials, labor, and regional pricing. They are intended for budgeting and for sanity-checking contractor quotes.
What our estimates are not
- Not a contractor quote or bid for any specific project
- Not professional engineering, architectural, or design advice
- Not a code-compliance review
- Not an inspection or condition assessment
- Not legal, tax, financial, or environmental advice
- Not a substitute for licensed professionals where the law requires one
Why your actual cost may differ
Real construction costs vary by site condition, access, demolition discovered after work begins, permit requirements, material availability, contractor availability and backlog, season, geographic region, scope creep, and changes you make during the project. Two contractors quoting the same work routinely vary by 25-40%.
Always get at least 2-3 written bids from licensed and insured contractors before committing to major work.
Special note for life-safety scopes
For projects involving electrical service, gas, structural, foundation, septic, sewer, mold remediation, radon mitigation, asbestos, or lead paint:
- Use ProjectCostPro for budgeting only
- Hire a licensed and insured contractor specific to that trade
- Pull required permits
- Verify credentials (state license number, IICRC / NRPP / NWFA / ISA / EPA RRP certifications as applicable)
- Get all warranty and insurance documentation in writing
