Privacy policy

Summary

ProjectCostPro is a free static website operated by Martin Lashgari (ProjectCostPro), reachable through the contact page. We don’t require accounts, don’t collect payment information, don’t run contractor lead forms, and don’t sell, share, or broker quote requests for advertising or any other purpose. The information your browser sends to load any web page — browser and device details, IP address, page visited, referrer, timestamp — is processed: by our host (Vercel) in service logs, and by the two analytics tools described below. That is a description of what happens today, not of something we might add later.

What we may collect

• Standard server logs — IP address, browser/device user-agent, pages visited, timestamps, and referrer. Logged by our host, Vercel, for security and uptime monitoring, under their retention schedule rather than ours.
• Analytics — the site runs two analytics tools: Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-CLNSY15DQP) and Ahrefs Web Analytics. Between them they record page views, referrer, approximate region derived from IP, and basic device and browser information. We also send a small set of no-personal-data interaction events (for example: a calculator was recalculated, a preset was chosen, an estimate was copied). Those events are filtered before sending — any value containing an email address, a dollar amount, or a run of four or more digits is dropped, so the ZIP codes and project figures you type are never transmitted. We do not run advertising or retargeting networks.
• ZIP code you type into a calculator — used in your browser to look up regional pricing. Your full ZIP is never sent to us: the pricing engine only ever reads the first three digits, and that is all a share or print link carries. Copy a link to your estimate and the URL contains something like 941, not 94105 — enough to reprice the estimate identically, not enough to narrow down a household. As with any web request, that shortened value appears in our host's standard server log when such a link is opened.
• Real-cost feedback (optional, and currently switched off — the form is not accepting submissions at the time of writing). If it is enabled and you use the “did you get a real number?” form, the stored record is limited to: which calculator it was, the first three digits of the ZIP you enter (regional granularity, not your full ZIP), the estimate band shown, the amount you say you paid, and any short note you add. The form is designed not to ask for your name, email, address, or account — but it is stored as an individual record, not only as an aggregate, and technical service logs may exist alongside it. Anything you type into the free-text note is stored as you wrote it, so please don’t put names, addresses, phone numbers, or other identifying details in the note. We do not publish individual entries.

What we don’t collect

• No accounts, no passwords, no payment information
• No contractor lead capture
• No third-party advertising trackers
• No precise location (we don’t request GPS permission)
• No name, email address, phone number, or postal address is ever requested by this site
• We don’t sell or share personal information, and we don’t use it for cross-context behavioural advertising

Cookies

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies in your browser — _ga and _ga_CLNSY15DQP — which distinguish one visitor from another so page views are not double-counted. They contain a randomly generated identifier, not your name or email. Ahrefs Web Analytics is cookieless.

You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, use a browser or extension that blocks analytics, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Nothing on this site requires cookies to work — every calculator runs entirely in your browser and functions normally with cookies blocked.

Browser storage

Separately from cookies, the site keeps your work on your own device using your browser’s local storage. None of it is transmitted to us. It stays until you clear it — there is no automatic expiry.

• pcp:est:<calculator> — the inputs and result for a calculator you have used, so the page can restore your last estimate and the Project Simulator can pick it up.
• pcp:sim:plan — the list of projects in your Project Simulator plan.
• pcp:sim:planname — the name you gave that plan.
• pcp:fb:cfg — a per-session note of whether the optional feedback form is available, so the page does not re-check on every visit. This one clears itself when you close the tab.

The Clear control in the Project Simulator empties your plan but deliberately keeps your saved calculator estimates, so you do not lose them by resetting a plan. To remove everything, clear site data for projectcostpro.com in your browser settings. Nothing else on the site depends on it — every calculator works from scratch with storage disabled.

Advertising

The site does not currently display advertising. If we enable advertising in the future (e.g., Google AdSense or another ad network), third-party advertising vendors — including Google — may use cookies and identifiers to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this site or other sites.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or by visiting aboutads.info for the broader Network Advertising Initiative opt-out.

If we enable advertising, this page will be updated and the change date at the top will reflect that.

Third-party services

Two third parties receive a request from your browser when you load a page here:

• Google Analytics 4 (googletagmanager.com and google-analytics.com) — page-view and interaction measurement. Google publishes its own privacy policy.
• Ahrefs Web Analytics (analytics.ahrefs.com) — cookieless page-view measurement. Ahrefs publishes its own privacy policy.

Nothing else is loaded from a third party. The site’s typeface is self-hosted rather than pulled from Google Fonts, and its Content-Security-Policy blocks requests to any origin not listed above.

How long data is kept, and how to ask us to delete it

• Analytics — Google Analytics 4 is configured with Google’s data-retention setting for event data; Ahrefs Web Analytics is cookieless and stores no per-visitor identifier. Neither is under our direct deletion control on a per-visitor basis, which is part of why the events we send carry no personal data.
• Server logs — held by Vercel under their own retention schedule, for security and operations.
• Real-cost feedback — retained for up to 24 months, then deleted. Because the record contains no name, email, or account, we generally cannot find “your” entry from your identity alone; if you want a submission removed, contact us with the calculator, the approximate date, and the amount you entered so we can locate and delete it.
• Browser storage — never leaves your device and is not ours to delete. Clear site data for projectcostpro.com to remove it.

To ask a question about this notice, request deletion, or raise a concern, use the contact page. We honour Global Privacy Control in the sense that matters here: we run no advertising or retargeting networks and do not sell or share personal information, so there is no cross-site tracking to opt out of. To stop analytics measurement entirely, block the two origins listed above, use a tracker-blocking browser or extension, or install Google’s opt-out add-on — every calculator works normally with all of it blocked.

Visitors reach this site from outside the United States, and the vendors named above process data in multiple countries. This notice describes what the site actually does; it is not legal advice, and it is not a statement that any particular national or state regime has been assessed. If you need a compliance determination for a specific jurisdiction, that is a question for a qualified privacy professional.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we materially change what data we collect or how it’s used, we will update the “updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
